What a day! On Saturday 9th August 2025, Avon Harmony A Cappella had the absolute pleasure of performing at the beautiful Blaise Castle Museum grounds. The sun was shining, the air was warm, and although it was a little blustery at times, the breeze carried our singing voices far and wide across the park.

This special performance marked a milestone for us — the public debut of our brand-new logo! Designed in celebration of our 50th anniversary, the vibrant new look is a joyful blend of modern flair with a nod to our colourful costume history. We proudly showed it off on our new T-shirts and banner... although the wind had other ideas! Mid-song, our MD Mary had to chase her sheet music as it made a dash across the park along with our new banner that got bent by the wind — a moment that brought a few giggles from us and the audience alike.

The lovely folks at the museum kindly provided chairs for our listeners, and it was wonderful to see people arriving who had spotted our posters or visited our website. Over the course of more than an hour and a quarter, we treated the growing crowd to a fun and varied set of four-part harmony favourites — including Don’t Stop Me Now, Stray Cat Strut, and California Dreamin'.

We even got the audience involved in some singing with a few fun rounds, and it was such a delight to see people wandering over from the nearby playground, clearly drawn in by our uplifting sounds.

To finish, we performed our latest contest package ready for LABBS Convention in October for the first time — a heartfelt ballad followed by an upbeat number that had toes tapping all around. Afterwards, many came up to say how much they’d enjoyed the music and to ask more about who we are. It was especially lovely to spot our regular supporter Andy in the crowd again — always such a welcome face at our events.

Once the singing was done, the day wasn't over — we gathered together for a social picnic in the park. Everyone bundled up their packed lunches and folding chairs, while others treated themselves to delicious homemade cake from the Community Garden CafĂ© or grabbed a classic ice cream from the nearby van. With great food and even better conversation, it was the perfect way to end a fabulous day.

Thank you to everyone who came to support us — and to Blaise Castle Museum for having us. Here’s to 50 years of harmony… and the many more to come!
